January 31, 2022 – In partnership with UNI Financial Cooperation, the nine Northern New Brunswick Hospital Foundations are proud to announce that the sixteenth edition of the Northern Star Campaign raised a record amount of over $128,754! All proceeds from the campaign are donated to the various participating foundations so that they can address the health needs in their respective regions.
This latest edition is a perfect example of what we can achieve when we have a community behind us! The generosity of the community was once again evident, resulting in a new record amount for this annual campaign.
“The partnership of nine foundations with UNI clearly demonstrates that by working together our communities can achieve great things. Each year, the Northern Star Campaign, which we proudly support, shines on our hospitals in the northern of the province. Our employees, who are committed to this project, continue to contribute directly to its success. The miniature trees, which are the symbol of this campaign, have decorated the walls of our points of service to show the support of the people in our communities for the foundations,” explains Joyce Roberts, representative for UNI Financial Cooperation.
“A donation to the Northern Star is an essential gesture to the quality of life of our people here by making a difference to the health of all of us. It is a gesture that goes beyond money, it is a demonstration of your support for all our patients who are facing illness and going through difficult times and for our health care personnel who are committed to the health care of our people. I would like to sincerely thank, on behalf of the patients and health care staff, all the donors who have supported us in order to continue to make a difference for health care in our hospitals”, explains Dr. Marilyne Bossé, Chairperson of the Chaleur Region’s Northern Star.
The 9 participating foundations are:
- Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation (Bathurst);
- Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus (Caraquet);
- Fondation des Amis de l’Hôpital général de Grand-Sault (Grand-Sault);
- Fondation de l’Hôpital Régional d’Edmundston (Edmundston)
- Fondation de l’Hôpital de Lamèque (Lamèque);
- Fondation des amis de la santé (Campbellton);
- Fondation Dr Romaric Boulay (Saint-Quentin);
- Fondation Les Ami.e.s de l’Hôpital Stella-Maris-de-Kent (Sainte-Anne-de-Kent);
- Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie (Tracadie).
The evening of the lighting of the dedicated trees, the figurines as well as the community trees near the hospitals, took place on Wednesday December 1st. More than 200 trees were illuminated in front of our hospitals.
This new record amount now represents over $1,251,000 raised since 2006. The donations raised truly make a difference in people’s lives by allowing them to access quality health care close to home.
